Ayurvedic Ice Cream

Ice cream is not normally considered a health food… unless you make it with bananas! When frozen bananas are freshly blended they have the consistency of frozen yogurt, or you can put the mixture back in the freezer and it hardens to be more like ice cream. According to Ayurveda, an ancient and holistic system of healing from India, these ingredients are very balancing for when there is too much fire, or pitta. It is thought to manifest as heat in the mind and body resulting in excessive anger, sweating, skin rashes, inflammation and high blood pressure. All of these ingredients are calming to pitta, and besides that, they taste pretty delicious and decadent together.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • ΒΌ -1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon raw almond butter
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Blend all ingredients together in a blender or using a hand held mixer and enjoy immediately or place back in the freezer.
